Matchmaking Upgrades

The matchmaking system overhaul was the most anticipated update according to the results of the open poll, and it has already been implemented! As we promised in one of our announcements of the new patch, an additional factor has been introduced into the matchmaking—the maximal player rating.

A maximal player's rating is the rating of the Hero used by the player to win battles over the course of the last 30 days.

For example, if a player wins a Borderlands match using a hero with a rating of 1800, this number will also represent a player's maximal rating for the next 30 days. In order for a rating to be raised, the player needs to win using any other Hero with a higher rating than 1800. The maximal rating can be raised anytime. The rating will be lowered automatically 30 days after the victory of the Hero whose rating was the highest throughout the 30-day interval.

The teams will be matched by the following parameters inasmuch as this will be feasible:

  • The sums of maximal team ratings are to be as close to each other as possible.
  • The maximal rating gaps within the team are to be as narrow as possible.

Also, you can now see the average strength of both teams on the battle loading screen (for ranks up to and including the lieutenant's). If at least one of the teams has a group of two or more players, the average strength is not displayed.

Changes to the Prime Distribution System

Another long-awaited change concerns the increase in the share of personal Prime. As we have already announced, this share has increased by 15%. The team's Prime will decrease by a corresponding amount.

The amount of prime received for the soldiers, the Touched, and the minigame, has been changed as follows:

  • 14 Prime points are awarded to a player for each Prime crystal captured in the minigame— the old value was 5.
  • 54 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Woodwose, while the players in the team receive 48 Prime points for participation—the old values were 49 and 51, correspondingly. 30 Prime points are awarded for killing a Satyr, while the players receive 21 points for participation — the old values were 26 and 24, correspondingly.
  • 42 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Sirin, while the players in the team receive 31 Prime points for participation—the old values were 33 and 39, correspondingly.
  • 128 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing an Elite Woodwose, while the players in the team receive 105 Prime points for participation—the old values were 110 and 120, correspondingly.
  • 30 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Rogue, while the players in the team receive 21 Prime points for participation—the old values were 26 and 24, correspondingly.
  • 32 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Marksman/Archer, while the players in the team receive 30 Prime points for participation—the old values were 20 and 36, correspondingly.
  • 36 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Battle Tiger/Battle Boar, while the players in the team receive 33 Prime points for participation—the old values were 31 and 39, correspondingly.
  • 36 Prime points are awarded to a player for killing a Warrior, while the players in the team receive 33 Prime points for participation—the old values were 31 and 39, correspondingly.
  • 50 Prime points are awarded to team players for participation in the killing of a Destroyer/Flamecaster—the old value was 52.

Also, the reward for the First Blood deed in the Borderlands is now 75 Prime points instead of 200.

Rebalance of Towers and Soldiers

There were three purposes behind the rebalancing of the towers and the soldiers:

  • To increase the importance of towers as command targets to be attacked and protected.
  • To increase the defensive potential of the towers against Heroes;
  • To make soldiers more important to tower destruction.

Towers and the Main Building:

  • Blinks, teleporting, and invisibility no longer protect from tower attacks.
  • The tower attack speed has now been fixed at 0.8 attacks per second. Attack speed formerly depended on Agility and equaled 1 attack per second per 121 Agility points. The per second damage has remained unaltered, but the loss of attack speed will be compensated for by increased damage.
  • All the towers now deal 35% less damage to the soldiers. As for Watchtowers (T2), Boars/Tigers still die after 3 shots by the tower, Marksmen/Archers, after 2 shots, and siege soldiers, after 4.
  • Guard Towers (T1):
    • Agility down from 121 to 100.
    • Cunning up from 40 to 100.
  • Watchtowers (T2) and Castle Towers (T3):
    • Cunning up from 40 to 121.
    • Tower Agility is up from 110 to 121.
  • Main Building:
    • Cunning up from 40 to 121.
    • Agility raised starting with 1 instead of 121.
    • A building's damage is now 100% dependent on Strength and not 50%. The basic damage is thus raised twice.
    • The tower attack speed has now been fixed at 0.5 attacks per second instead of being equal to 0.49 sec per 121 Agility points. Per second damage has remained the same.
    • The interval between the uses of attacks on the square has been raised from 30-45 sec to 60-90. This was done in order to make the soldiers play a larger part in destroying the Main Building.

Soldiers:

  • The soldiers will now attack the Tower and nothing but once they enter its attack range, without being distracted by enemy soldiers and Heroes.
  • The damage dealt to the towers will be raised by 50%. However, the damage dealt to enemy soldiers and Heroes will remain the same. Clones and ghosts will have no such bonus. The damage dealt by Flamecaster's and Destroyer's siege soldiers will remain the same as before.
  • Last Hit is now rewarded by 36 Prime points.
  • The attack speed of all soldiers is now fixed. However, per second damage has remained the same.
    • Boars/Tigers: 0.75 attacks per second instead of 0.757.
    • Marksmen/Archers: 0.6 attacks per second instead of 0.61.
    • Destroyer/Flamecaster: 0.5 attacks per second instead of 0.534.
    • Warriors: 0.75 attacks per second instead of 0.757.

Updated rewards for tower destruction:

  • The Prime received for destroying a tower will now be shared between all the Heroes in a given tower's vicinity.
  • Every team member will be awarded 200 Prime points instead of 100 for the destruction of a Watchtower. The amount of Prime received by nearby Heroes will remain the same as before — 200 points.
  • Every team member will be awarded 250 Prime points instead of 200 for the destruction of a Guard Tower. Additionally, 300 Prime points will be shared among the nearby allies instead of 250.
  • The reward for Fortress Towers is down from 250 to 150 Prime to each team member. Additionally, 250 Prime points will be shared among the nearby allies instead of 150.
  • The reward for the First Assault is down from 200 to 75 Prime to each team member.

In general, these changes aim to add variety to the strategies and tactics available to the players, and to make the defense and destruction of towers more significant. Towers are now truly important targets, and their influence over the game has increased dramatically.

Rework of Glyphs

The glyph system has been reworked in order to become less random and more capable of providing a team with the necessary glyphs when required. We would like to decrease the kind of variety caused by random occurrences and increase the true variety of the gameplay that is controlled by the players' deliberate actions. The glyph system has been changed as follows to meet those requirements:

  • Glyphs are now obtained from Woodwoses found in the Golden Camps of the Touched.
  • If a hero with a glyph effect dies at the hands of an enemy hero, tower, altar, main building, or soldier in the Borderlands or their modifications, the glyph they had carried appears next to their corpse. The duration of the status conferred by the glyph has been reduced by three.

Rush and Power glyphs have been overhauled:

  • The Power Glyph will only affect Strength or Intellect whichever stat is higher, instead of affecting four different stats.
  • The speed-up conferred by the Rush Glyph has been reduced from 50% to 40%.
  • The stat increase conferred by Power and Rush Glyph will become fixed and depend on the average Power of all the Heroes that participate in a battle. For example, if the average Power of a battle is around 1400, the glyph will add 26 stat points. 31 stat points will be added if the Power is around 2500.
  • The changes only apply to the Borderlands and it`s modifications, namely: Apocalypse, Native Terrain, Maneuvers, and Switcheroo. Power and Rush glyphs and the means of obtaining them remain unaltered for the Outpost, Challenges, and Dragonwald.

Inn / Spa and the Heroes' Vigor

The Inn would substantially limit the players' ability to save enough silver for new Heroes. Also, one could formerly join a battle without restoring one's Vigor, and thus only receive a fraction of the reward for the full battle. Therefore, the concept of Vigor in general, and the Inn / Spa building in particular, have been discontinued.

  • Inn / Spa no longer exists. Accordingly, none of the associated quests are available anymore. The resources invested into construction works and upgrades will be fully reimbursed.
  • The Vigor concept and all the associated limitations no longer apply to the game.

The Fair

  • The visual representation of the Fair has been updated.
  • The Fair now has a banner informing players of ongoing special events.
  • Sound effects have been added for the actions of updating the fair and purchasing items.
  • We wanted to give you an opportunity to receive pleasant surprises, that is why we have added jackpot offers to the Fair! Jackpot offers will change every week. Right now you can get the following in the Fair:
    • Golden Age
    • Prime crystals
    • Silver

Now you can already receive 700 Prime crystals for only 200 Gold.
This jackpot will last till 9:00 UTC on March 28th.

Castle

  • The filter talent in the Library now displays tips with the names of exclusive and legendary talent sets.
  • The description of a Hero's level now contains the talents gained after leveling up.
  • Bug fixed: formerly, attempts to add some players to Friends would result in a Player Not Found error message.
  • The remaining bugs when players would find themselves unable to enter the castle and see an Account Loading Error message have been fixed.
  • Bug fixed: player and Hall of Fame Hero stats would formerly be displayed as the same.
  • Bug fixed: Hero stats would formerly fail to update after a new build and a talent upgrade.

Known issues

Pressing the "Close" button in the window of the battle statistics in the Challenges mode may lead to a notification about the client error. However, the rewards for the battle will be paid in full and you can as usually return to the castle, this error doesn`t influence the player's progress and will be fixed in our next updates.

Our new hero has decided to see the sights of Praia and to consider whether all of our Lords and Ladies have enough patriotic mood, that is why he will appear a little bit later in the game. While we all are waiting for him with a big anticipation, we offer you to enjoy all of the other nice changes that our Patch 10.8 has brought to the world of Praia!
